Courtney Shanade Salter, also known as Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her debut EP Pho, released on October 21 2016, was released through Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently release single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen included her in Elephant Eyes the track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate with Rihanna. The announcement of her decision to be signed to Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. The record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat
